Municipal water vs. a private well
Water source changes the right questions, testing plan, and provider match.
Municipal water
Start with your utility’s current water-quality report and a home hardness measurement. Tell providers if you are solving scale, taste, an equipment problem, or another defined concern.
Private well
Well conditions can change and the homeowner is responsible for testing. Use an appropriate laboratory and local health or environmental guidance when evaluating contaminants; do not use a sales demonstration as a substitute for certified testing.
